MEET
Harry Stamateris

19 September 2024

Harry Stamateris, a retired physiotherapist, began his journey with MS through a patient, with a young girl, misdiagnosed with back pain and later diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). This experience shaped his career, fostering a deep admiration for the resilience of MS patients, and their determination to live fully despite challenges.

Retirement didn't slow Harry down. He found a new challenge in the MS Gong Ride—a cycling event that promotes fitness and raises funds for MS research and support. For Harry, cycling isn't just exercise; it's a way to stay healthy, socially connected, and support a cause he deeply cares about.

The MS Gong Ride is a personal challenge and team builder. It requires training and preparation—similar to navigating life with MS.

Harry leads TeamXtreme, a diverse group united by their passion for cycling and commitment to making a difference. They train together, tackling hills and participating in group rides, enjoying camaraderie and coffee breaks along the way. The ride has become a focal point, bringing together cyclists of all ages and backgrounds for a common cause.

Fundraising is crucial for TeamXtreme. They leverage their cycling jerseys for sponsorships, organize events, and engage their community with raffles and auctions to support MS Plus research and services.

Harry's advice to fellow fundraisers is simple: "Offer meaningful ways for people to contribute."

As they prepare for another MS Gong Ride, Harry and TeamXtreme look forward to the adventure—a day of challenges, laughter, and making a difference. Crossing the finish line isn't just completing a ride; it's celebrating efforts and supporting a community that inspires them daily.

Join Harry and TeamXtreme on their journey to pedal forward against MS. Together, we make a difference—one ride, one fundraiser, closer to a world free of MS.
