Meet Kevin Brady

10 OCTOBER 2024

A dedicated MS Gong Ride rider since 2017, Kevin Brady is back and ready to continue his streak of riding to make a difference in the lives of the 33,300 Australians living with multiple sclerosis.

As an avid cyclist, Kevin always wanted to challenge himself with a long-distance ride. The MS Gong Ride was the perfect opportunity for him and his mates to give it a go. In preparation, Kevin learnt more about multiple sclerosis and the ways it can affect people's lives.

Since starting the MS Gong Ride, I have had many sponsors tell me their own direct and indirect experiences with MS which has motivated me to raise more funds for the cause.”

Inspired by knowing that his fundraising helps provide immediate and ongoing access to expert advice and vital support services, Kevin committed himself to coming back each year to raise funds for MS Plus. Since Kevin and his team, the Shotokan Riders, have had such success with fundraising (raising over $35,000 so far!), he has some hot tips for how you can successfully fundraise too:

  • Ask everyone
  • Send emails with a mix of fun and fact and remind people it’s a tax deduction for good
  • Keep people updated
  • Use social media – add some excitement

When the 2023 MS Gong Ride was unfortunately cancelled, Kevin still wanted to challenge himself and continue to raise funds, so he completed a make-up ride in Centennial Park and rode 84kms! His passion for the MS Gong Ride is truly admirable. When asked what Kevin loves most about the MS Gong Ride, he said:

Red Quotation Marks
The camaraderie, the fun, the challenge, the achievement and the support it gives to those that need it.”

Kevin not only feels camaraderie with his fellow teammates from the Shotokan Riders, but also with every rider out on the course. His message to other riders is about enjoying the day and connecting with others.

Have fun and be friendly – don’t just race to the finish, enjoy the journey and people you meet on the way. They all have a story to tell.

That is exactly the sentiment that makes the MS Gong Ride such a fun event to take part in! See you soon for the 2024 MS Gong Ride, Kevin! Thank you for all your dedication and passion these past 7 years!
